五只小猴子 5 Little Monkeys

We are reading 棕色的熊 ‘Brown Bear Brown Bear’ this week by Eric Carle.  Did you know the Chinese version of this book does not have a Monkey at the end?????  Where could that Monkey have gone….?

We found the Monkey in this song 🙂 So we may as well sing it this week 🙂

Thanks to Little Fox Chinese for such a cool video to the song 🙂 Here are the words:

五只小猴床上跳
wǔ zhī xiǎohóu chuáng shàng tiào
Five little monkeys jumping on the bed,

一只跌倒摔伤了
yì zhī diē dǎo shuāi shāng liǎo
One fell and got hurt.

医生医生怎么办?
yīshēng yīshēng zěnmebàn?
Doctor, doctor, what should I do?

别让小猴床上跳
bié ràng xiǎohóu chuáng shàng tiào
Don’t let the little monkeys jump on the bed.

四只小猴床上跳
sì zhī xiǎohóu chuáng shàng tiào
Four little monkeys jumping on the bed.

一只跌倒摔伤了
yì zhī diē dǎo shuāi shāng liǎo
One fell and got hurt.

医生医生怎么办?
yīshēng yīshēng zěnmebàn?
Doctor, doctor, what should I do?

别让小猴床上跳
bié ràng xiǎohóu chuáng shàng tiào
Don’t let the little monkeys jump on the bed.

三只小猴床上跳
sān zhī xiǎohóu chuáng shàng tiào
Three little monkeys jumping on the bed.

一只跌倒摔伤了
yì zhī diē dǎo shuāi shāng liǎo
One fell and got hurt.

医生医生怎么办?
yīshēng yīshēng zěnmebàn?
Doctor, doctor, what should I do?

别让小猴床上跳
bié ràng xiǎohóu chuáng shàng tiào
Don’t let the little monkeys jump on the bed.

两只小猴床上跳
liǎng zhī xiǎohóu chuáng shàng tiào
Two little monkeys jumping on the bed.

一只跌倒摔伤了
yì zhī diē dǎo shuāi shāng liǎo
One fell and got hurt.

医生医生怎么办?
yīshēng yīshēng zěnmebàn?
Doctor, doctor, what should I do?

别让小猴床上跳
bié ràng xiǎohóu chuáng shàng tiào
Don’t let the little monkeys jump on the bed.

一只小猴床上跳
yì zhī xiǎohóu chuáng shàng tiào
One little monkey jumping on the bed.

它跌倒摔伤了
tā diē dǎo shuāi shāng liǎo
It fell and got hurt.

医生医生怎么办?
yīshēng yīshēng zěnmebàn?
Doctor, doctor, what should I do?

Don’t let the little monkeys jump on the bed.

谁的便便? Whose Poo?

We will read 谁的便便?(Shéi de biàn biàn?)  ‘Whose Poo?’ by Jeannette Rowe this week.

Of course this will lead to our poo game…. this poo is saying 现在大家玩游戏( xiàn zài dà jiā wán yóu xì) Lit: ‘Now everybody lets play a game’ , the first line of our ‘Let’s play a game’ song 🙂

Here are some of the toys that make an appearance in our story, can you imagine what their poo might look like?

亲爱的动物园 Dear Zoo

We will read ‘Dear Zoo’ by Rod Campbell this week.

This is a great book to reinforce how we say ‘too’ in Chinese.  We use 太 (tài) then the adjective, then add 了(le) 。 So to say ‘too big’ we just say 太大了!(tài dà le!).
Here are some of the animals and adjectives from the story:

Elephant 大象 Dà xiàng Big
Giraffe 长颈鹿 cháng jǐng lù Tall gāo
Lion 狮子 shī zi Fierce xiōng
Camel 骆驼 luò tuo Grumpy 脾气坏 pí qi huài
Snake shé Scary 可怕 kě pà
Monkey 猴子 hóu zi Naughty 顽皮 wán pí
Frog 青蛙 qīng wā Jumpy 蹦蹦跳跳 bèng bèng tiào tiào
Dog gǒu Perfect 完美 wán měi

Here is a song ‘What animal?’ that some of you already know with some of our zoo animals in….and as a bonus we get to sing about our face parts again!   If you need a reminder of face parts, see blog post for a refresher on the face song.

It kind of goes to the ‘Skip to My Lou my darling’ tune, but here is my little girl singing this one for you.  Animals and lyrics below.  Older kids can write their own version using other animals, face/ body parts and different adjectives.

兔子 (tùzi) 兔子 (tùzi)大象 (Dàxiàng) 大象 (Dàxiàng)

河马 (Hémǎ) 河马 (Hémǎ)

Reading a bit of ’10 times 10′ book today by Henre Tullet.  Great to revise our body parts, but a cool way to hear those different measure words!  Below are a list of the measure words used for the parts of the body in this segment of the book.  Click on our Ten Little Friends song, and see if you can substitute counting the body parts in the song instead of friends!  Don’t forget to change the measure word 个 (ge) in the song to the appropriate measure word for the body part that you are counting 🙂  If you need to learn face parts first you can use this face song to help you, the blog link has the words and video for you 🙂

十个小朋友 Ten Little Friends

Here is a new video that the kids made to go with the Ten Little Friends song.  Words are below.  Our little kids like counting to this song, plus these words are some of the first words in our reading program, so great for our older students to listen and learn by heart too! If you would like some more challenges with this song, a game, and learn another song to help you remember that 二 (èr) ‘2’ changes to 两 (liǎng) when counting things, then check out our older blog post on Ten Little Friends.

一个两个三个小朋友 (yí gè liǎng gè sān gè  xiǎo péngyǒu) 1,2,3 little friends

四个五个六个小朋友 (sì gè wǔ gè liù gè  xiǎo péngyǒu)4,5,6 little friends

七个八个九个小朋友 (qī gè bā gè jiǔ gè  xiǎo péngyǒu) 7,8,9 little friends

十个可爱小朋友 (shí gè kěài xiǎo péngyǒu) 10 cute little friends

我的朋友在哪里?Where’s my friend?

Here is a song our new reading program groups are learning, containing many of our new first words! So listen to this lots of times and sing along 🙂

Copy and paste the Chinese characters below the video, into a word document, and make the font size nice and big, and follow the characters as you sing 🙂 Use the pinyin below for reference if you wish, but follow your characters when you read along 🙂

For this song you can substitute the word ‘friend’ 朋友 (péng you) for any noun or name you want 🙂

一二三四五六七
我的朋友在哪里?

我的朋友在这里。
